📅 Sell in May, Come Back in September?
👋 Hi finance enthusiasts and fellow investors!
It’s been a little while since my last update, and for good reason. I’ve been juggling two exciting new endeavours that I started back in May, so my time has been stretched. But to be honest, if you’ve been away from the crypto markets during this period, you didn’t miss much.
This year, the saying “Sell in May and go away, but remember to come back in September” really held up—but maybe not for the reasons you’d expect.
This summer, the markets were pretty quiet. So instead of getting caught up in the daily noise, it made sense to take a mental break and check back in now that things are picking up again. It’s not about selling off your investments, but more about not spending too much time thinking about them when there’s no need. With so little happening, you could have easily stepped away and saved yourself some stress.
There’s a bit of truth behind the old “Sell in May” idea. Historically, markets tend to perform better from October to April, with a lull during the summer. In stocks, this is called the "Halloween Indicator". But when it comes to crypto, things aren’t as clear-cut. That said, this year, the quiet summer trend held strong. So if you took a breather, you didn’t miss much action.
Now that it’s September, the market is starting to wake up again. Bitcoin just hit $64,000 yesterday, and with the recent interest rate cuts, we could be gearing up for a more active fall.
The key lesson here?
Long-term investing can free up your time and mental energy.
You don’t need to obsess over every market movement. Instead, focus on what really matters—whether that’s pursuing new projects, finding other ways to generate income, or just enjoying life. This is my approach, and I truly believe it’s the best path for most people.
So, don’t stress too much about the markets. Stick to your long-term strategy and let your investments do the work for you.
Thanks for reading, and I look forward to sharing more insights soon!
